Abandoned Ramp, State Road 520

I’ve never been here before, though this is about 100 feet from a bus stop I’ve been using for over a decade. They never finished the interchange, and various ramps either don’t connect to the highway or end in mid-air. This one should connect about where my bus stop is, but instead it just ends. I’ve often looked up here and wondered what it’s like. The area is normally very loud, as the highway is just behind and below that guard rail, but this weekend the road was closed for construction. I was coming home from photographing in a park below some other of the dead-end ramps when I saw the light here and couldn’t resist. I was probably not supposed to be here, though there is no fence and no sign. Nobody bothered me but the weather, which started to hail lightly.

    • Thanks, Aaron, I really appreciate that. There’s just something this spot that I really like. It was constructed by people, but now it’s become something else. It has assembled itself into something unique. For me, it has presence, and I tried to capture that.
