Flood-Stained Cottonwoods, Grand Gulch, Utah

This pool is below a pour-off of Grand Gulch (out of sight to the left), and it must get much deeper during heavy rains. The southern Utah red dirt colors everything. Sometimes I’ll run across an old hiking shirt of mine with stains of that unmistakable rust-brown and I’ll feel nostalgic for the canyons.
