Just back from an overnight kayak trip across Puget Sound to Blake Island. Saturday afternoon I wandered about the shore as the tide was coming in (I was far from alone – there’s a heavily used campground just above the high-tide line). I spent a while watching clams squirt. Eventually, I got out the camera. Like many photographers, I like the shapes that water erodes in sand. In the harsh afternoon sun they look very much like photos of the surface of the moon. If it weren’t for the barnacles (okay, and the grain of the sand), this photo could be nearly any scale.
