Desert Hills

Apologies if this isn’t your cup of tea, but I really like bare boulder-y desert hills like these, on the northern edge of Joshua Tree National Park. Would I want to live in one of those neighborhoods? I suppose not — too hot, too much sun — but what a back yard to wander into!

Franz, don;t apologize if it’s what you like! Oh, and I like too btw, it reminds me of the famous Crimean War photograph of canonballs, or no canonballs, in the landscape by Roger Fenton You certainly get the feeling of heat and dryness form your image.

  3. Thanks, guys. And I remember reading a lengthy piece in the NYT about the cannonballs / no-cannonballs photos and which came first. I think they did finally figure it out based on how some rocks had moved between the photos, but I don’t remember what the answer was.
