Desert Hills

Apologies if this isn’t your cup of tea, but I really like bare boulder-y desert hills like these, on the northern edge of Joshua Tree National Park. Would I want to live in one of those neighborhoods? I suppose not — too hot, too much sun — but what a back yard to wander into!

Franz, don;t apologize if it’s what you like! Oh, and I like too btw, it reminds me of the famous Crimean War photograph of canonballs, or no canonballs, in the landscape by Roger Fenton http://www.uta.edu/english/tim/lection/120505.html You certainly get the feeling of heat and dryness form your image.

  3. Thanks, guys. And I remember reading a lengthy piece in the NYT about the cannonballs / no-cannonballs photos and which came first. I think they did finally figure it out based on how some rocks had moved between the photos, but I don’t remember what the answer was.
