Bald Cypress and Cattails, UW Arboretum
Plainly not native to the Seattle area, there are a bunch of these along the University of Washington’s lake shore by the west end of the 520 bridge. This one even has a tag, so somebody must have planted it. I believe these are from the U.S. southeast, but they seem to be doing well in chilly, rainy Seattle. This image is an HDR composite of three photos, but I think it pretty well avoids the cheesy “HDR look”, which I get a little tired of. It would otherwise be difficult to hold detail in both the sky and the foreground.
