Helical Pumps

Or something. I actually have no idea what these things are, but don’t they look cool? These are at Seattle’s Gasworks park, an old coal-gasification plant on a scenic peninsula in Lake Union with a great view of downtown. When the city cleaned it up to turn it into a park, they left some of the machinery, mostly in a fenced enclosure. There is currently a hole in the fence, strategically situated to allow a fence-free photo of these pipes. (It’s probably used by whoever is writing the graffiti on the other pipes and towers.)
