Hemlock Cones

I found a dead branch full of these cones beside a trail in Seattle’s Seward Park. Of the dozen or so photos I made, this is probably the best. At least, that’s what people tell me. I’ve been surprised at how much people I’ve shown it to have liked it, and how universal that sentiment has been. I like it, too, obviously, or I wouldn’t be posting it, but no more so than many others and a bit less than some that have not received such a reaction. So, what do you think? Does this one stand out for you?

  1. I would not have known what a hemlock cone is, so I appreciate the identification and the close-up.
